WAN skinny connection problems after 2.4.6 - 3.0.3

After upgrading from 2.4.6 to 3.0.3 Unity running 3.0.4.0 TSP. Customer has three sites. Local calls connect to voice mail. Calls comming across the WAN using 7.29A can talk to customers at the hub. Calls over the WAN that forward to voicemail get fast busy. 7.29A was being transcoded prior to the upgrade. Any ideas?

Chris Calaprice
Manager Engineering, Networked Solutions
Expanets - Southern CA, Nevada, Pacific North West
Office:661.775.2450
chris.calaprice@expanets.com

Did you check to make sure that G.729 is enabled in the registry on the Unity?

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Active Voice\AvSkinny
"G729 Enabled"=dword:00000001

You might want to pop open a CCM trace and see what's going on. Search the trace for the phrase 'capabilities mismatch'.

Keith, we were doing Hardware trans-coding in 2.4.6 and did not have 729a loaded and it worked fine. If we change the phones to 711 it works, change them back and it sends reorder. We are working with TAC but so far no progress. The only change was the Unity upgrade and the new TSP.

Do you mean that Unity was doing hardware transcoding or you have an external transcoder like the WS-X6608? Unity can't do hardware transcoding. It doesn't have any DSPs. It only does software transcoding.

The hardware transcoding is being done on a 4006. This was working prior to the upgrade. How does the codec negotiation work between Unity and the call manager? Does the TSP report all codecs it is capable of or only those enabled? I checked the registry and on both the earlier version and on this version 729 is disabled, rather there has not been a key added to enable it. Can the 3.0.4 tsp with 3.0.3 Unity run both 711 and 729 concurrently and dynamically across ports?
