What is G729

What is audio format for G729 ? Is it GSM ???

G729 is an audo encoding format that samples at a rate of 8Khz and compresses (without headers) to 8Kbps. There are several standards for the G729 format: G729 (CS-ACELP), G729a (Annex A), G729b (Annex B), and G729ab. All adhere to the sample and compression rates above. G729 is NOT GSM.
