What model of phone based on the MAC Address?

Is there a way to tell what model a Cisco phone is based on the MAC address? We have a remote user that is saying they have a 7911 phone, but it was configured as a 7912. I cannot get to the phone's IP to look at the web interface. They are in India and I'm in the US so its hard to get this person on the phone to confirm the model of the phone.

Re: What model of phone based on the MAC Address?

Do you have a cisco switch, and can you telnet to it? "show cdp nei detail" will tell you the model and FW running.

Also, if you are running CCME, phones in auto-registration will specify what they are.

Hope this helps, please rate post if it does!
