Wideband codec on CCM3.1

Is anyone using the wideband codec w/ CCM 3.1? We tried it over a weekend, and all connections to our C4GWY and PSTN had a tinny, hissing sound to them.

The wideband codec would only be used between 7960/7940/7910 phones. Other phone types and all gateway types do not have that codec available, so configure your regions accordingly.

Re: Wideband codec on CCM3.1

Shouldn't the devices negotiate the proper codec? i.e. calls from phone to phone use the Lin16k codec, but calls from 7960 to Unity use G711. Calls from 7960 to C4GWY show the phone using Lin16k, and the quality is terrible. All phones/Unity/C4GWY are in the same region, and the region is set to default to wideband codec.

Yes, the codec should be negotiated to one that is supported by both endpoints of the stream.

When you press "ii" on the phone while talking through the C4GWY, does it say Lin16k for both the Rx and the Tx type?

I would be interested to see what the C4GWY is actually sending and why it "seems" to be trying to negotiate this codec.

In the meantime, as a workaround you can configure multiple regions and ask the C4GWY to use G.711 instead and it should work.
