WS-X6624-FXS Card Questions

Does anybody know of any possible issues with configuring the WS-X6624-FXS in the same VLAN as my auxiliary vlan that is currently handling all the IP Phones that are connected to the 6509? Wondering if I should configure the FXS ports in there own VLAN.

Re: WS-X6624-FXS Card Questions

Correct me if I'm wrong, I think the FXS blade needs

to in the same vlan as the CM it's bound to.

I think it has something to do with the fact that some piece of communication depends on strictly

layer 2 MAC addressing.

No, and no.

The FXS blade doesnot have to be on the same VLAN as the CallManager.

Also, the CallManager does need to know the MAC address of the gateway, but only for identification purposes, not for actual communication, which is all encapsulated in layer 3 IP packets.
