7K ~ port-profile type ethernet mtu size

I am debating wether it's "Best practice"  to set the jumbo frame MTU size on my FEX uplinks.........what are the pro's and con's of doing this please?

Sample profile below........

port-profile type ethernet fex-switchport

  switchport

  load-interval counter 1 30

  switchport mode fex-fabric

  mtu 9216

Many thanks

My 2c: Jumbo Frames have to be configured end to end, including initator (Operating System) and target (most likely a storage system). Is there a real benefit and if yes which one ?

It very much depends on the application, eg. NFS, but also VMware VMotion or MSFT Live Migration. The benefit is higher throughput (10-25%) and/or less CPU overhead on a server.

So what is hanging off your FEX, and does it offer any benefit to go for jumbo frames ??
