Nexus 1000v Domain-ID Question

I have three different UCS chassis.  I noticed that the Cisco Nexus 1000v domain id is the same on two of them.  Could this cause an issue in the future? I was not sure if the domain-id needed to be different on different chassis or if it is just on the same chassis.

Here is an example:

svs-domain
  domain id 1

I have two Nexus 1000v switches that have domain id 1.  They are located on two different chassis.

I have not started using one of them in a production environment so I could re-install it with a different domain-id.  However, if it is not necessary, I would like to leave it in place.

Thanks in advance,

Alex

Hi Alex

The N1k domain id has absolutely nothing to do with UCS chassis.

Any ESXi servers on any blade on any UCS chassis could be part of the same domain.

It simply means that the VSM is the control plane of all the ESXi VEM's with the same domain id.

Walter.
