problem with user acquisition on 3512xl switches

hello,

i am having a problem acquiring users on 3512xl switches. i have had ciscoworks obtain users from a couple of 3512's on our network but the rest aren't being picked up. the devices are shown in rme and i have also tried doing a discovery specifically on the devices. ping sweep option is enabled. the switches have the right community read/write strings and cdp enabled. there are definitely users on the ends of the ports as i have done a sh mac-address-table and there are addresses there.

i don't see that it could be a problem with ios versions .

System image file is "flash:c3500XL-c3h2s-mz-120.5.1-XP.bin" as an example of one of the problem switches.

It's strange, i have 2 3512 switches right next to each other, one is acquiring users and other is not.

Am i missing anything obvious?

My understanding is that "sh mac" will show the MAC addresses for sometime even if the uses are disconnected from the switch. Because there is some timeout value before the switch removes the address from the port. But I still do not have a clue for your problem.
