1000BaseT versus 1000baseTX

What are differences between Gigabit 1000BaseT and Gigabit 1000BaseTX interfaces?

Are they compatible ?

The only mention of 1000baseT(anything) is in the 802.3ab spec (Gigabit over copper). I would think they are the same but please look for the 802.3ab spec support which will show compatability.

There is not any reference to 1000BaseTX in the 802.3ab spec ... only 1000baseT appears in this spec...

You are correct.. Sorry for the bad pointer. The more I look at this the more it looks like they (T and TX) are not compatible. There are different part numbers for these devices which leads me to believe that they would not work together but I have yet to find any spec to outline what the major differences are. In the ab spec it seems that T uses all 4 pair for transmission on twisted pair and TX may only (like with 100BaseTX) use 2 pair... I'll repost if I find anything definative on this.
