I'm attempting to put a 8meg stick of ram into a 1604R and am having some trouble.
The router has 8meg of onboard ram and 8 meg on a SIMM. When I reboot the router it gives this.......
System Bootstrap, Version 12.0(3)T, RELEASE SOFTWARE (fc1)
Copyright (c) 1999 by cisco Systems, Inc.
Simm with parity detected, ignoring onboard DRAM
C1600 platform with 8192 Kbytes of main memory
It ignores the 8 meg onboard and just uses the simm. On other 1600's I've brought them from 8 to 16 in the same manner - just drop in a SIMM - but on this 1600 its not using both onboard and SIMM provided memory.
I've put in a non-pariy sim thinking that *might* help - but no dice.
How can I get this router to use memory from both sources?
This is actually a pretty cool feature, i didn't even know it existed until I was looking for a solution to advertise a subnet (prefix in BGP talk), only if a certain condition existed. This is exactly what conditional advertisements does
