1602R need to make!

Hi, am changing ISPs and I need to make the appropriate changes to the router. We no longer have the person that set up the router working for us so I am not sure that I even know the password. I am hoping that I can guess it.

Can you please point me to instructions on what and how to change the settings in the router for the new ISP as well as what to do if you do not know the password. thanks!

Re: 1602R need to make!

Password recovery can be done, by refering to following link.

Please follow the exact procedure described in the above link.

Mostly your router would have been using a default route to your previous ISP. Default routes are of the form,

ip route

To repoint to your new ISP, first remove the previous ISP default route, by issuing the above command, with a "no" on the front -----> "no ip route in the global configuration mode.

Now find out the new ISP next hop IP address, and configure the new default route,

ip route

Also make sure, you have "ip classless" command, enabled on your router.

Hope that helps!
