2-port VWIC --- Router detects only one port !!!!

3640 Router, IOS 122-13.t3

NM-2FE-2W

VWIC-1MFT-G703

The VWIC card has two E1 ports and is inserted in the NM module. The router detects only one port on the VWIC card, whichever is active. Doesn't matter which VWIC port be active, on the router config it takes only controller 0 as the command. There is no controller 1. However the config from controller 0 applies correctly to the active port (port 0 or port 1) and it works correctly.

Any one seen this before, and any ideas what could cause this?

Are you seeing both controller in the "sh run"? And does it states it's 2 port VWIC in the "sh diag". I think this VWIC is flacky, you need to try another one to see if the problem follows the module.

VWIC-1MFT-G703 is a 1 port E1 controller WIC. Unless it was a typo error for VWIC-2MFT-G703, what you are seeing on the router is correct. (it should show only one port).

If it was indeed VWIC-2MFT-G703:

1. Does the show version display two E1 controllers ?

2. Looking at Cisco Software advisor, 12.2(13)T is not listed as a software that supports VWIC-2MFT-G703.

Try upgrading the software to 12.2(15)ZJ and see if it lists both E1 controllers.
