I am setting up a perimeter internet router with two providers (AT&T & MCI). MCI is currently our primary provider. I currently am using just one interface, with ip address unnumbered on the serial referencing the public MCI address on the FastEthernet port.

I am going to switch this to:

Serial 1: -> MCI IP address(1); currently referenced to FE0/0

Serial 2: -> AT&T IP address

FastEthernet: -> MCI IP address(2)

Now will it cause problems if I have two of the following in my IOS config:

ip route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 Serial1/0:0.1

ip route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 Serial1/1:0.1

Or do you see any other issues I need to address? I am just trying to get the AT&T interface up for now; I will be adding load balancing and BGP later on.

before use BGP, for the load balancing, maybe multihoming is the better way. in fact, multihoming works fine then BGP load balancing.

just search multihoming on the internet, you got a lots.
