2600 Rommon, but still routing??

I know this sounds crazy, but I just saw it and am curious if anyone else has. I had a 2610 router that I could telnet into and looked up and fine routing traffic, etc, however when I consoled into it, the router was in rommon???? Is this even possible? The only thing I can compare it to is a Linux box in a halted state that still runs processes in the background. Anyone?? Anyone??

Nope..the router cannot route anything in rommon.

Are you sure it was not in BOOT mode instead of ROMMON? In boot mdoe it will still work as a host and you can telnet to it but it does not forward.

Trust me I know this should not be possible... but I had a console connection open in rommon mode and in another window I opened a telnet conenction to the same router and it was normal. Once I rebooted, it was back to normal.
