2600 Router config DHCP?

I am very new to routers and I am reading the online documentation to learn. I cant seem to find anywhere how to enable DHCP on one of the 10baseT interfaces. Can you do this? The reason is because one of the interfaces are live on the internet and the other is internal. The one that is live my ISP requires that it is DHCP enabled.

Any good books to recommend to start? I want to focus on IP/VPN and firewall capabilities of the router.

Thanks for your help.

Rob.

Re: 2600 Router config DHCP?

Hi,

DHCP client is supported but i believe you do need ios version 12.1 or higher, then it is easy i will quote a part of my config and explain it to you.

mac-address 0060.977c.aaaa

ip address dhcp client-id Ethernet0/0

the first rule spoofes the mac adress so it isn't apperent that you use a cisco router.

the second rule uses dhcp to be configgured and sents the spoofed mac adress as unique indentifier instead of the "cisco 2600 series 12.x"with mac xxxx.xxxxx.xxxx" indentifier.

good luck
