2600 Router Password Recovery - Wrong Confreg Set - Major Problem!

"Fat-fingered" confreg at the "rommon 2>" prompt.

Entered: confreg 0x21242

Should have entered: confreg 0x2142

After entering reset, only got CCCCCCCCCCCC in the hyperterm session...

Powered down router and tried to hyperterm...could not connect to router.

Boson's calculator calculates the 0x2124 value as having a console baud speed greater-than 9600, specifically 19200.

Is a hard reset possible via the reset jumpers on the 2600 system board?

Other options?

Thanks in advance for any and all help with this matter!

Actually, entering 0x21242 will casue the configiregister to be set to 0x1242 (last four digits will be considered).

This would have your console port speed set to 1200 Baud.

Try cahnging your Hyperterm settings to match that and you should be fine.

Hope this helps,

Solution to "Major" Problem

Placed a jumper on pins 1 & 2 on the DUART Reset jumper pins. Pins 1 & 2 forces the console baud speed to 9600.

Problem solved.

Reset confreg to 0x2102.

Good to go.
