2610 + 1ADSL - "WIC card has an unknown ID of 0xFF"

IOS C2600-ik9o3s-m 12.2(16) with 64Mb DRAM / 16Mb Flash

I've tried this card with a 12.1 Enterprise IOS and get the same error. I'm sure both the IOS's I've tried support this card.

Someone told me it's a memory partition error, but the changes I've made havn't helped.

Will provide any info you request. Greatly appreciate the help.

Re: 2610 + 1ADSL - "WIC card has an unknown ID of 0xFF"

These ADSL WIC's are relatively new, so they are implemented only in a few IOS releases. I'm using

Cisco Feature Navigatior to determine which version should work. If you have a CCO account you can access it on http://www.cisco.com/go/fn

As feature I selected ADSL - Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line Support and 2610-2613 as platform.

So c2600-ik9o3s-mz.122-13.T1.bin is not listed as

working IOS release.

If you want to use ik9o3s feature set you can use one

of the following releases:

c2600-ik9o3s-mz.12.2-11.T9

c2600-ik9o3s-mz.12.2-11.T8

c2600-ik9o3s-mz.12.2-11.T6

c2600-ik9o3s-mz.12.2-11.T5

c2600-ik9o3s-mz.12.2-11.T3

c2600-ik9o3s-mz.12.2-11.T2

c2600-ik9o3s-mz.12.2-11.T1

c2600-ik9o3s-mz.12.2-11.T

c2600-ik9o3s-mz.12.2-8.T8

c2600-ik9o3s-mz.12.2-8.T5

c2600-ik9o3s-mz.12.2-8.T4

c2600-ik9o3s-mz.12.2-8.T10

c2600-ik9o3s-mz.12.2-8.T1

c2600-ik9o3s-mz.12.2-8.T0b

c2600-ik9o3s-mz.12.2-8.T0a

c2600-ik9o3s-mz.12.2-8.T

c2600-ik9o3s-mz.12.2-4.T7

c2600-ik9o3s-mz.12.2-4.T6

c2600-ik9o3s-mz.12.2-4.T5

c2600-ik9o3s-mz.12.2-4.T3

c2600-ik9o3s-mz.12.2-4.T1

c2600-ik9o3s-mz.12.2-4.T

If you want to use a 12.2-13.T1 release, these

should work (different feature sets):

c2600-j1s3-mz.12.2-13.T1

c2600-is5-mz.12.2-13.T1

c2600-is4-mz.12.2-13.T1

c2600-ik9o3s3-mz.12.2-13.T1

c2600-is3x-mz.12.2-13.T1

c2600-bino3s3-mz.12.2-13.T1

...

Hi Scott,

can you post the WIC part number and "sh int" ?

Re: 2610 + 1ADSL - "WIC card has an unknown ID of 0xFF"

Hi Manuel,

Thanks for the quick reply.

WIC-1ADSL is the product number (on the silver backplane). Part Number? 800-06575-03A0 is near the backplane on the underside of the PCB.

Near the edge connector is 73-4771-08A0

Next to a chip on the underside of the the PCB is 30B2101

Here's the sh int (probably won't help much - it's not in service at the moment)

Re: 2610 + 1ADSL - "WIC card has an unknown ID of 0xFF"

Here's the actual console error message:

%PQUICC-1-UNKNOWN_WIC: PQUICC(0), WIC card has an unknown ID of 0xFF

Re: 2610 + 1ADSL - "WIC card has an unknown ID of 0xFF"

Hi Scott

Ok it looks like your software image doesn't support

the wan interface card.

In "sh diag" is there something like "Unknown WAN daughter card" ?

If you want to use IOS 12.2 then try a T release.

For feature set ik9o3s you can use for example c2600-ik9o3s-mz.12.2-11.T9

Hope that helps.

Re: 2610 + 1ADSL - "WIC card has an unknown ID of 0xFF"

Appreciate your help, Manuel!

I thought the only requirement was that the IOS supported the "Plus" feature set.

So, you're saying I need a T release of an IOS with the "Plus" feature set? Ok, I'll try and track one down.

I'm amazed at how difficult it has been to do something that, by today's standards, is so simple and common.

Thanks again,

Scott...

Re: 2610 + 1ADSL - "WIC card has an unknown ID of 0xFF"

Thanks so much for your help. I used the FN to find an IOS that I had access to, and did what I wanted.

Really appreciate your help!

I've solved this problem.

I've solved this problem.

  1. When cisco 2620 booted I saw:

cisco 2620 (MPC860) processor (revision 0x102) with 53248K/12288K bytes of memory.
Processor board ID JAB04170CVZ (2251918144)

00:00:21: %LINK-3-UPDOWN: Interface FastEthernet0/0, changed state to up
00:00:21: %LINK-3-UPDOWN: Interface Serial0/0, changed state to down

2. I deleted ios c2600-is-mz.122-3 and wrote c2600-ik9o3s-mz.122-8.T8.

3. After reboot in console:
