2610 booting problem

cisco 2610 is displaying error message "%software-forced reload" just after decompressing the ios from flash and does not boot up completely. what might be the possible cause of this error message.

Almost certainly this is caused by loading a wrong image in flash. The latest images for old 2600 and 2600-XM are different. Maybe you loaded a wrong one. Other possibilities:

Unsupported hardware in the router (empty all slots & retry)

Insufficient RAM. (check requirements on CCO)
