My lab 2612 router will not boot IOS. Any aggestions would be appreciative. The IOS is C2600 Software (C2600-IS-M), Version 12.1(4), RELEASE SOFTWARE (fc1). Thanks. Turning on the router goes as far as:
Remove all the cards and power up the router. If it boots up fine, insert one card and power cycle the router and if it's OK, add another card and keep going like that to isolate the defective hardware.
If the router doesn't boot up at all with no cards in any slots then chassis is the problem.
Thanks. I removed the 4A/s module, turned the router on. I got a whole bunch of error messages. I then inserted the 4A/s module, turned the router on. the router exhibits the original prblem. Looks like I have to reload the IOS from rommon.
The follwing are error messages with out the module.
1 Ethernet/IEEE 802.3 interface(s)
1 Token Ring/IEEE 802.5 interface(s)
32K bytes of non-volatile configuration memory.
16384K bytes of processor board System flash (Read/Write)
You are getting this error coz that you have removed the 4A/S module and all this config lines are related to that module only.
From your post its very well visible that you are running 12.1 which is very old may be u wont have the new features to try it out there.
i would suggest to go for an ios upgrade if possible to 12.3 or so which can help u out to come out of this problem and also will help u out to try out other features which wont be there in 12.1 code..
