2620 Crash/Reboot.

Hello All,

Hardware:

Cisco 2620, with IOS c2600-is-mz.120-7.T2.bin

Problem:

Started rebooting automatically at an intermittent intervals.

Analysis:

32mb RAM/ 16mb Flash.

Result:

BUG (using output interpreter)

The failure was caused by a software defect.

The stack trace decoded symbols are:

dialer_redial_put_into_dpak

mgd_timer_stop

dialer_redial_timeout

dialer_timers_process

process_execute

On Console i got a pop up:

*Mar 1 08:17:06: %ALIGN-3-SPURIOUS: Spurious memory access made at 0x8048E1BC reading 0x4

I AM MAINLY CONCERNED ABOUT THIS LINE.

Remedy:

Need your suggestions.

12.0-7T2 is an Early Deployment release. Besides it is fairly old.

ED Releases are not generally recognized for their stability.

Considering this I would advise you to check whether you absolutely need this version or some other ED. This may be the case if you are using a specific feature or hardware that is not supported in the GD-release. (For example the NM-1FE-2CE1-..) If you are not needing this, an upgrade to 12.0 (x) is advisable. 12.0 has reached GD status ages ago and if this problem is really due to a SW-bug it should be resolved. Alternatively you could upgrade to 12.1 but this is more likely to have impact on memory requirements.

If the problem is hardware related you can use this upgrade to eliminate software as a cause.

I am ina process of ...getting the GD release of a more advanced IOS. Just for your information....my 2620 paniced again, displaying following on my console.
