2620->2924XL = CRC errors

Greetings -

We have a 2620 connected to a 2924XL, with both sides forced to 100/full duplex. Every 60 seconds, the switch side logs exactly 2 new CRC errors, but the 2620 side shows no errors at all.

We've tried moving to different switch ports and several different cables, but this same behavior still persists.

Anyone have any ideas on what's causing this?

CDP advertises every 60 seconds. Perhaps the 2924XL for some reason doesn't like the CRC on that. You could disable CDP on the interface (no cdp enable) or try going to CDP version 1 which is a global command on the router (no cdp advertise-v2).

Hows the 2620 Ethernet/FastEthernet interface configured? Not running anything else that could be doing 60 sec advertisements?

You could also use a sniffer and take a trace to see whats going on. Start it before the 60-second errors occur. This way the trace isn't that big. If you don't have one try ethereal (www.ethereal.com).

Turn off keepalive.
