2621 router and Telnet

Hello all,

I would like to close all ports on this router.

I've successfully done so on all ports except telnet. (23)

Anyone know how to shut down Telnet?

(I want NO access except through the console port)

Paul

You can define an access-list as follows..

access-list 1 deny any

and go to global config mode.

config)#line vty 0 4

config-line)#access-class 1 in

Thank you kindly =) That did the trick.

You are welcome!

If the router has an AUX port, and if its hooked to modem, you might want to restrict the same line from remote access.

Or you can do it without access lists

under vty 0 4 , issue the following command. "transport input none"

Re: 2621 router and Telnet

hi

You can type no login in the line vty 0 4 .

or you can set the access class in your VTYs.

Re: 2621 router and Telnet

If you type "no login", it would simply telnet into the router, without asking for a password.

Either you have to set access-list on the vty lines, or use "transport input none" in the line vty mode.
