1. Do you know if the 2851 router can handle 40Mbit per seconed traffic without a delay? if not 3825 can do it?

2. I need to connect the router to 3 ethernent segment ( i can't use 802.1q ) so i must have 3 Ethernet port on the router. The 2851 has 2 built in ethernet port. Which WIC should i add in order to add another ethnernet port to the router? can i use the HWIC-4ESW ?

2851 has a PPS of 220,000 for a total of 112 Mbps throughput (this is with 64 byte size packets).

Please have a look at the 2800 series datasheet:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/ps5854/products_data_sheet0900aecd8016fa68.html

I must say that I could not find any hard numbers about the specified throughput either but as the 2851 has Gigabit interfaces there is little doubt in my mind that it will handle 40Mb/s without a problem. Platform througput was always mentioned in the past, no idea why they left it out. At least the datasheet does state that you may use the HWIC-4ESW module.

Leo
