2900 LRE XL IOS updates?

we have a 12 port 2900 LRE XL. it came bundled with wc4. is the latest supported IOS release wc8 (c2900xl-c3h2l9s-tar.120-5.WC8.tar)? because it doesn't work. wc6 doesn't work either. i just downloaded wc5 (c2900xl-c3h2s-tar.120-5.WC5.tar) from cisco, is that the latest release?

We need to upgrade because we need the lower lre profiles for connecting the cpe devices.

The latest release is WC8. I was wondering what do you mean by "it doesn't work"?

Did you follow the steps in upgrading the LRE switch? What problems did you encounter?

The IOS edits the startup-config file to contain 24 ports instead of twelve. This causes a VLAN error on the extra ports on boot.

None of the firmware upgrade commands work (ie cpe and 2912-xl-lre.)

Also if we copy the old startup-config file over the new one so it reflects the correct number of ports -on reload it just re-edits the startup file.

(Also we could not add new VLANs?)
