Re: 2900 Switch management

We have a couple of 2950s, and they come with web-based management.

After setting your switch's ip address, enter this command:

switch# enable http server

You will need to download and install the Java plug-in off of Cisco's website for the GUI on your laptop/PC. It is free.

http://www.cisco.com/pcgi-bin/tablebuild.pl/java

and then in your browser enter: http://switch-ip-address

login is "admin" for level 15 access, and password is your enable secret password.

I use this for our 2950s, 3524s, and 3548s, and find them quite useful.

It's invaluable when I need to change the parameters of 48 ethernet ports at the same time.

Re: 2900 Switch management

You can use Cisco View, but it's not a free ware. XL switches also have a .tar image which is just like the regular image except that it have a built-in web GUI/Java/html in the image which you can get from CCO and load on the switch, provided that y ou have enough memory in the switch. See the XL IOS docs for more details along with http://www.cisco.com/warp/public/473/59.html
