2924 Link Fault

All,

I'm trying to run a Veritas NetBackup on a server which is connected to a 2924. If I display the interface I'm showing 8426005 input errors; the port led is blinking green/amber. This I found means there is a Link Fault.

When I looked up what this meant I found the following definition from Cisco: "Error frames can affect connectivity, and errors such as excessive collisions, CRC errors, and alignment and jabber errors are monitored for a link-fault indication."

Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this? Could it be the NIC on the server or an overload on the 2924? Both switch and server are locked at 100/full.

Any help is appreciated.

Thank you,

Scott

Re: 2924 Link Fault

Hello Scott,

generally, if speed and duplex settings are set to fixed values, and CRC errors are still occuring, you might want to change the cable, try another port on the switch, or exchange the NIC on the Veritas server. CRC errors are usually hardware-related...

Regards,

GP
