2924XL switch and TACACS

I'm trying to configure a 2924xl switch with tacacs but failing completely. it refuses all aaa commands excep aaa new-model. and won't even let me put in a tacacs server. Using the following config:

aaa new-model

aaa authentication login default group tacacs+ local

aaa authentication enable default none

tacacs-server host 10.1.1.1

tacacs-server timeout 20

tacacs-server key xxxxx

what am i doing wrong? this works fine on a standard 2924 but the xl is a bit strange.

What do you mean by standard 2924? TACACS is not supported on the 2924XL, nonetheless.

This is not entirely true , the earlier 4 meg models of the 2924's did not support tacacs but the later 8 meg models of the 2924 did indeed support tacacs as we have both on our network .
