2948 gl3 problem

i am havung a 2948GL3 switch and some 1924 w\switch under it.

i want to conect a novell server to it.i don't have used any ipx address in the L3 switch

how can i add this novell server to the switch so that all users in all the switches can access it

pls give me a solution

Without seeing some of your configs and your network diagram, I am going to assume several things.

1) You are using IPX and IP on your network.

2) The server is using totally IPX with no IP.

3) You have configured VLAN's.

A) Put the servers that are running IPX into a seperate VLAN.

B) Configure routers to do inter-VLAN routing between the VLAN's that clients are on that need to connect to the servers that are running IPX. This will route between the two routers.

This scenario will cause several things to happen, the main thing being an increase in capital. You will have to purchase two routers with IOS versions that support IPX.

My suggestion, use strictly IP. Why bother with the increased traffic and administratice nightmare.

Forgot to add that you will want to encaps IPX in IP so that you will have an IP only network. This way only IP is running across the switches until the packet hits the other router and is unencaps.
