Dear All,
I'm little confuse about the difference between Cisco Catalyst 2948G-L3 and Cisco Catalyst 3550-48-EMI.
AFAIK both support L3 switching and 3550-48-EMI cost less than 2948G-L3, what product should I prefer ?
TIA.

I would prefer 3550.
It's much more simple. I'm not sure but I think the 2948G-L3 is EOF...

Hi Petri,
2948G-L3 still alive ..
Can we do IPX routing in 3550?
TIA.

That's right - the main reason the 2948G-L3 is still "alive" is due to the fact that it is the only "pizza-box" platform which has hardware support for IPX.
The 3550 does not support IPX - you need to use fallback bridging to pass this through vlans

Note that there is no IPX support on 3550 but if you don't need IPX you should pick 3550.
2948 is full of bugs. We are actually replacing all our 2948s with 3550.
