2948g upgrade

I'm looking to upgrade our access switches in our DC. Currently we are using 2948G's gig uplinked to our 6509s for customer access. Since these switches are going or are EOL, I'm looking at what switches I should be stepping up to. Any input on what model would be the logical upgrade?

While they are EOL they do not go out of support until November of 2009 . They are good switches , just upgrade the code to a most recent code. If you really want to replace them then probably something like a 4948 would be an equivalent except this is a layer 3 switch. The only layer 2 switches they make anymore is the 2960 series....

I hope it helps.

Arul

If you don?t require Layer 3 functionality the 2960 range are sufficient. There is a big cost difference between the 2960 range an the Layer 3 3560 range.

Thanks.

I am looking at these switches all they all seem to have SFP uplinks. All uplinks currently are on GBICS. More than likely, I would need to pick up a SFP module for my 6500s as well... which require 720 sups (I have sup2s).

Are the 2960s able to use gbic modules?
