Occatioanl our grren ports flicker to amber, what does this mean?

The meaning of the colors depends on the port mode that you have selected. The following document explains the meanings the different colors:

In general, when you see a port led flickering green/amber you are likely to have a duplex mismatch on that particular port.

You could have a problem but not necessarily. The first thing to do is check the port to see if it is running in half duplex. I have seen router attached ports at half duplex ocassionally flash amber due to the number of collisions during heavy traffic. That is not really a problem, but collisions can get excessive if the traffic is too high. If the link is actually dropping you have a cable fault. I have seen people try to use old cat3 patch cables and that will cause the light to turn amber, but the link is actually bouncing. You can check the logs for that.

Like someone else said, you could have a duplex mismatch, but you should be able to verify the duplex settings on both sides easy enough.

Thanks all, it was a duplex problem on the Pix, why it had changed from dull 100 to half 10 after upgrade we don't know.
