2950 LRE and POTS Splitter

Anyone point me to some documentation on how the POTS splitter actually interfaces with a PABX? Not from a telecoms background so am at a loss.

I have seen that, what I am after is a generic "how to" of breaking the signal fron PABX into POTS splitter.

Re: 2950 LRE and POTS Splitter

Generally PABX's provides single pair of cable/wires for each POTS telephone connection.

Legend ========= 2 wire

EPABX ======>POTS Device(Phone Handset/CPE/FAX ..etc)

(RJ21 Telco connector will provide 25 such pair of wires.)

Example....For single CPE connection,

Simply take 2 wires coming from EPABX and connect to (1,26)or (2,27) and so on... of RJ 21 connector of Splitter.(Port on Splitter side is PBX A or PBX B)

EPABX=====>(1,26)of RJ21 cable-->PBX port of Splitter

And Take out the corresponding pair of wires

[(1,26) or (2,27)from Splitter other port CPE A or CPE B and exend it to CPE located in remote location.

Splitter CPE port=====>(1,26)of RJ21 cable====>CPE

In short. the diagram look like.

EPABX ===>Splitter Port PBX--Splitter Port CPE===>CPE

Simply the splitter is conncted in series to the

EPABX and POTS device(CPE/Handset)
