2950 <----> 1900 trunk : Is this possible?

I have a few 1900's in my network

with two 100FX fiber uplinks. I recently purchased

a 2950 to add to the network. Unfortunately, it only

supports 802.1q trunks. Is it possible to connect

it to the other switches ? Multiple vlans exist on the switches.

Does 1900 support 802.1q ?

1900 switches only support ISL (as far as I am aware). If there are only two VLANs on the switch then you could run them as access links and have spanning tree load balancing. I am not sure if there is a later software release for the 1900 that makes them support 802.1q

sorry I can't be anymore help

There is one solution, although it is a bit of a pain. Put a isl/dot1q capable device (like a 2900XL) between the 2950 and 1900. This way you can ISL from 1900 to 2900XL, then dot1q from 2900XL to 2950. I know this is not ideal, but Cisco say they have no plans to support ISL on the 2950 !
