2950 vlan creation problem

I've got a pair of 2950 , Software C2950-I6Q4L2-M , Version 12.1(12c)EA1 .

My management vlan is 20 , and not the usual vlan 1 .

When I create any new vlan it does not create it shutdown , so it will shutdown the management vlan .

Any suggestions ?

Thank you.

Patrizio

Re: 2950 vlan creation problem

You dont have to create "interface VLAN 110" or "interface VLAN 120" if VLAN 20 is your management VLAN. Just add the VLANs in the VLAN database and assign ports to VLAN 110/120

Re: 2950 vlan creation problem

On a CAT2950/XL switches you can have only one VLAN interface up and up at any point in time. It's a layer 2 switch only and having multiple VLAN interfaces up/up does not give any benefit as this interface is used for management purpose only. The following page should help as well

Re: 2950 vlan creation problem

I dont want two vlan interface up , just that my management vlan 20 remain

up when i create any new vlan , for example vlan 110 and/or 120.

Otherwyse i will loose IP connection to the switch.
