Re: 2950g problem

We have a problem with configuration in the network of a customer. The problem is in a link between a 3200 Cisco Catalyst Switch and a 2950G Cisco Catalyst Switch. The link is a copper cable and both ports are in fixed configuration 100MHZ Full Duplex.

When we connect this switches , the port in the 2950G is in the forwarding state but the port in the 3200 go to the listening state and after go to the learning state. The port in the 3200 switch only is in these states (learning and listening) but never goes to the forwarding or blocking states.

First we think that it was a spanning tree problem but when we have changed the 2950G switch by a 2950XL or 1950XL switch the network works right and all ports is forwarding.

We upgraded the 2950G catalyst software and all is the same.

We have checked the ports configuration and the port fast option is not enable in the ports.

There are no other problems in the network and spanning tree is working right.

Do you know this problem and then what is the solution?
