2970 Switch and Layer 3

We are trying to incorporate a Cat2970 switch into a redundant network design. The fibre ports would be connected to 2 Cat4500 series switches running at Layer 3. I did not find it in the spec sheet, but does anyone know if the Cat2970 will support Layer 3 interVLAN routing like the Cat3500 series?

Re: 2970 Switch and Layer 3

Cat2970 doesn`t support Inter-Vlan routing like cat3550. Its a fully layer2 switch and can`t perform any routing functions.

as you are connecting 2970 in redundant fashion with 2 4500 switches, you need to make trunk links between 2970 and 4500 and allow all the vlans through those trunk links and make individual Vlan interfaces on L3 module on 4500 and routing will be done.
