3 Physical T1 Lines

Is it possible to have 3 separete T1 Lines from Telco connect to each port in 3660 WIC's and then combine the total 72 channels through the IOS? Does it require a special card or IOS will be able to do that with the regular WIC cards.

Any Cisco link with the sample configuration will be very helpful?

Regards,

Re: 3 Physical T1 Lines

Hi,

Look at PPP multilink. Interface multilink # and multilink-group commands. Offhand, I believe this was introduced in12.1(5)T.

Sample:

interface multilink1

ip address x.x.x.x y.y.y.y

encaps ppp

ppp multilink

ppp auth chap

(other interface commands you need)

interface serial1

no ip address

encaps ppp

ppp multilink

multilink-group 1

interface serial2

no ip address

encaps ppp

ppp multilink

multilink-group 1

interface serial3

no ip address

encaps ppp

ppp multilink

multilink-group 1

Re: 3 Physical T1 Lines

Thanks Erick ! But is it possible to do this with Frame-Relay where I would break the channels per sub-interface.

Re: 3 Physical T1 Lines

Yes, you can accomplish this by doing PPP over Frame Relay. Search cisco for PPP over frame and there are some good pages explaining how to configure it. A short description is, you take the FR subinterface and configure it for PPP and map to a virtual-interface which has the PPP configuration. Then you can multlilink the virtual-interfaces together like above.
