3550-12T connects to 2950T through 1000base-T

I connect a 3550-12T and a 2950T-24 through 1000base-T port. Regarding to the CCO document, the crossover cable should be 1,2 to 3,6 and 4,5 to 7,8. I realised that it is still working fine if 4,5 and 7,8 is not crossed. The case is the same as b.yan's message that posted on Aug 14, 2002.

There is no error message at all if 4,5 and 7,8 are straightly connecting.

After I used the CCO recommended pin assignment(1,2 to 3,6 and 4,5 to 7,8), the 3550-12T have none error message but the 2950T logged an error message as follow:

%SCHED-3-STUCKMTMR: Sleep with expired managed timer ..........

-Process= "L2MM",........

Re: 3550-12T connects to 2950T through 1000base-T

The following URL states that this %SCHED-3-STUCKMTMR: is a software cosmetic issue with no operational impact.

http://www.cisco.com/warp/public/63/scheduler_12422.html#SCHED-3-STUCKMTMR

L2MM seems to be a process that deals with Multicast and IGMP

There are several DDTS filed against the L2MM Process

CSCds47278 L2MM process sleeps with expired mgd timer fixed in 12.1.0.30

Also CSCdx47532 Sleep with expired managed timer in L2MM process

A Catalyst 2950 configured for L2TP produces the following error messages:

Apr 30 18:26:20 AEST: %SCHED-3-STUCKMTMR: Sleep with expired managed timer 80D9F

210, time 0x4F29560 (00:00:00 ago).

-Process= "L2MM", ipl= 7, pid= 39

-Traceback= 801C5B14 801C5E78 803F50C0 801B1A8C 801B1A78

This has no perceivable impact on the operation.

Wthout knowing your code it's hard to say exactly which DDTS is effecting you.

Hope this helps,

Don

Dear Don,

Your reply is very helpful, Thanks.

I can't open the CSCds47278 while I can open CSCdx47532.

Do you mind send me a copy of CSCds47278 if you have it?

By the way, here is the error message:

Sep 9 14:41:55 HKT: %SCHED-3-STUCKMTMR: Sleep with expired managed

timer 80DB3F

30, time 0x76295CFC (00:00:00 ago).

-Process= "L2MM", ipl= 7, pid= 39

-Traceback= 801C5B14 801C5E78 803F50C0 801B1A8C 801B1A78

It happens almost the same as the CSCdx47532 but this 2950T did not configure for L2TP. What's your opinion?
