Has anyone seen this. interface is up up. The PC NIC that is connected to the interface shows a link, but will not pull a DHCP IP address. Show interface indicates that 0 packets input 0 packets output. Move PC patch cable to another interface on switch and PC will now pull IP address. Port is bad, but does anyone know why it shows an up up state?

Are the ports in the same vlan? Do the ports both have excat same configurations? Does the failing port learning the mac address of the PC? show mac-address-table fa x/x.

the configuration is identical to the rest of the interfaces on the switch. All interfaces are in the same VLAN. The interface does not appear to be learning the PC MAC id.

Hi,
One time I had a situation that on a one of the switch the GBIC failed and shows port up/down. Checked all the data-link protocols and all were ok, but then saw that the port age, even after reset, was something like 30 years, and other ports a few seconds. Replaced the GBIC and everything worked just fine.
