We have a lot of "output buffer failures" problems on a Catalyst 3550-48 EMI. We have a lot of problems in tcp connections through this switch, with timeouts. Does anyone know what "output buffer failures" mean? How can we solve it? Is this type of error enough to loose tcp connections?
TIA

Check to see if you are over subscribing the interfaces. There was a bug filed
http://www.cisco.com/cgi-bin/bugtool/onebug.pl?bugid=CSCdy09531
In some cases it was oversubscription and in some cases it was not seen in most recent IOS. What software version are you running?

The version is 12.1(9)EA1c.

Ok..Are you oversubscribing the ports? Do you have any multicast traffic in your network? Try upgrading to 12.1.13.EA1a as well. Make sure you read the release notes for known issues

I had a problem with input queue drops once and the following link helped. It has information on troubleshooting output queue drops also. Not sure if it will help though.
