I have a 3550 switch which is stuck in boot loader mode. When I type as asked "boot" the following is displayed.

switch: boot

Loading "flash"...flash: permission denied

Error loading "flash"

Interrupt within 5 seconds to abort boot process.

Boot process failed...

This is a new unit but surely wouldn't it display the ios version c3550*****.bin etc

Many thanks.

can you do a "dir flash:" at the switch: prompt and see if you have a c3550***.bin file. If you do, try booting with "boot flash:".

Thanks for that, yes after doing a dir flash: we can see c3550****.bin,

I typed in as boot flash etc the switch will boot up. How do I make it boot without doing this. I.E make it perminant.

Set up a bootvariable statement...Here is an example

cs-3550-37a#dir flash:

Directory of flash:/
