Hi!

I've read the section "configuring SPAN and RPAN" in the document Catalyst 3550 Mult...configuration gude. The documentation is good but there is not alot of configuration example.

I've look on the cisco web site for more example of configuring RSPAN without any success.

I have two switch named SW1 and SW2 connected together by the gbic port. Each of them sharing the same two VLAN

I whant to monitor the two vlan

I whant to configure one destion span port (port 43) on the second switch and i will use one of my unused gbic port as the reflector port.

On SW1 i will do:

monitor session 1 source interface vlan 1 rx

monitor session 1 source interface vlan 2 rx

monitor session 1 destination remote vlan 901 reflector-port GigabitEthernet0/2

On SW2 i will do:

monitor session 1 source remote vlan 901

monitor session 1 destination interface interface FastEthernet0/43

Is this the good way to do it?

That way, will i monitor the two vlan on each switch????

Thank's!

Hi Roger,

On the Cat 3550, RSPAN is supported starting with 12.1(11)EA1.

3550-48 supports RSPAN, but 3548-XL would not support the RSPAN feature.

I also found an interesting configuration guide on the RSPAN feature for the Cat3550. Hope this gives you a better insight.
