3550 SW Version Confusion (12.1.19 or 12.1.20)

Hi,

On Cisco's Website there are two versions available for Cisco 3550 EMI

12.1.19EA1c (released Feb 19)

12.1.20EA1 (released Feb 10)

How can a newer release version (12.1.20) can get released "before (on Feb 10)" an older version (12.1.19) ?

If i plan to upgrade, which one should i use ?

Hi,

the reason is simple:

12.1.20EA1 introduced some new features while 12.1.19EA1c fixed some buges found in 12.1.19EA1a in the meantime.

Compare the particular ReleaseNotes to see details:

While planning an upgrade, generally I'd recommend to use the IOS with the latest release date, but read the Release Notes carefully.

It's possible in this case that the same bugs were not fixed in the 12.1.20EA1 yet. So compare the release notes and you'll see.
