I am trying to implement CBWFQ on a cisoc 3560 switch.
One switch has Version 12.1(19r)EA1b and it does not work, when you enter in one of the interfaces service policy output test-voice you get the message Warning: Assigning a policy map to the output side of an interface not supported.
However, On another customers site this works on a lower version of software.
Has anyone else seen this and is there a workaround without upgrading or downgrading the ios ???
The thing to consider here is that although commands appear in the CLI you can't necessarily use them...
On a router you construct a policy-map with any number of classes in it, and the prioritisation is done in software.
On a switch, you have a finite number of queues (4, or 3 + 1 PQ). To manage these queues you don't use a policy map, but configure the srr-queue commands per interface (and also the various maps under the global 'mls qos...' commands.
Policy-maps on the switch are used only for inbound classification of traffic, remarking, and a couple of other functions such as policing, like so:
