Hi,

Have some 3600's that I will be replacing the FLASH chips on and want to use the PCMCIA slots to copy the IOS back over, however I receive the following error from show version;

%Error: No PCMCIA Slot0 flash chip information available

I purchased a standard, non Cisco, cradle and 32MB chip, the router acknowledges that it has been inserted but I cannot get it to read properly!

Any ideas>

Please check the following URL.

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/routers/ps274/products_installation_guide_chapter09186a008007de1b.html#1034432

You will find that the 3600 supports 20Mb flash cards, not more. Your flashcard is too large for the system.

Regards,

Leo

Thanks for your reply Leo,

However,

I have seen this page before and it says that the flash pcmcia cards can be between 2 - 40MB (3640 & 3660)

Where does it mention the 20MB limit?

Am I reading this incorrecty??

Rgds,

LR

The TOTAL amount of flash on flash cards is 40Mb.

That's 2 times 20M.

The fastest way to show this is the following reference: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/routers/ps274/prod_module_install_config_guide09186a008007ce2d.html#wp40257

This is about flash cards in 3600 routers. The product descriptions are for cards of 4, 8, 16 or 20M in size (MEM3600-20FC=)

As you will notice , 32M is not mentioned.
