How do you recover used flash space once you delete files , don't see a squeeze function on these boxes . Once you delete a file it does not appear to recover the space when you issue a "dir flash" command . Is it the erase command ?
If you're using 12.2(1) or higher version of IOS, you can use the squeeze command. This command is used in permanently deleting file/s that are marked as deleted. Thus, you need to delete first the file to mark it as deleted then squeeze the flash: to delete it permanently. Then all file/s that are NOT marked as deleted will stay on the flash.
router# delete flash:filename
router# squeeze flash:
flash could be slotx: or diskx: depending on the type of PCMCIA card.
