Hi
I have a cisco 3640 for my internet gateway ,i ve connected its fastethernet via media convertor to fiber optic channel that feed my isp 10 Mpbs 'i ve seen the cpu load was about 45% ,if i want to have higher bandwidth like 20Mbps then will this router works and what about cpu ,will that crashes or no ?

I would not recommend to keep using the 3640 for that. It is a fairly old platform and you will not get optimal performance from it. If it is overloaded, it might crash but I do think this is likely, the router will cause a bottleneck in your connection.
I would rather recommend the 2800 series, the 2821 is absolutely up to this task.
