3640 ROUTER IOS ISSUE

Hi ,

I have two identical Routers Cisco 3640 .Both have the same version of IOS .Yet one when i do a show int ; does not show anything .The IOS version I have put on it is C3640-I-M), Version 12.2(17a), Both Routers have 8192K bytes of processor board System flash (Read/Write) .

This router was working fine till I decided to Upgrade the IOS .

The error message on the faulty router is

6:12:07: %IP_SNMP-3-SOCKET: can't open UDP socket

06:12:07: Unable to open socket on port 161

Obviously I am trying to install a feature set which this router does not like .Any help appreciated .

thanks

Raj

Re: 3640 ROUTER IOS ISSUE

It looks like the IOS image doesn't recognize/support the router's network interfaces. Before installing a new IOS image, you need to check the Hardware Compatability Matrix (I believe that's what it's called) to ensure you get an image that supports your network modules.

I beleive you are hitting a software bug , I have seen this on other hardware platforms and on other code it must be present in 12.2(17)a open a tac case
