This problem seems to be related to similar bugs associated with IPX connectivity over dial-up. You can use the Bug Toolkit tool to get more information about following bugs :

thanks for that but have already solved problem, for info i took the ipx network off the loopback interface which was mapped to dialer1 with the ipx ppp-client command and applied it directly to the dialer interface and it all seems to work fine now.
