Hi
Brand new 3825 with c3825-advipservicesk9-mz.124-3c.bin IOS
Installed NME-XD-24ES-1S-P module
Router does not see module, module has flashing green SYST and flashing amber STAT LED's.
So, dead module or am I missing something?

Hi
First thing i would suggest is to reseat the module and check for the same.
Once that is done check out whether the reqd s/w code available in the module.
You need to have 12.2(25)EZ installed in the switching module.
for more info on the compatibility matrxi do refer this link..

OK, reset/reseated, still the same. How to configure internal connection to switch module?

Service Module is Cisco GigabitEthernet2/0
Service Module supports session via TTY line 130
Service Module is waiting for registration message
Service Module reset on error is disabled
Service Module status is not available
Is what I get when querying the module. What is the registration message?

OK, muppet error on my part.
Got into the swirch, was in ROM ! Booted it and it came up. Now to configure.
Anyone with hints and tips, please feel free!

Why do you load a 3825 with a c3725 code ?

To elaborate more, from the boot, it appears that you boot off a c3750 IOS !!!
d/l a correct version and ya be fine.

Hi
The router is working fine on 3825 adv sec IOS.
The switch module runs on 3750 IOS and it looks like a corrupt image on the switch module. As its brand new I am returning it to the supplier for fix/replace.

OK, the switch module is like a separate device (actually a 3750 on a blade) but I can't find any documentation on Cisco's web site on how to get the switch module to communicate with the router. We have about 700 to go out!
IE, I notice that there are "virtual ports" on the switch and one on the router but how do they communicate.

Int Gi2/0 is used to communicate with the switch. Give this an IP address then connect to switch module using "service-module gi 2/0 session" command. Set the default gateway on switch to point to gi2/0 and all is OK. BTW my switch module would not auto boot to IOS on powerup. When I tried to boot the IOS seems corrupt. My supplier says the router needs special PSU to support the POE of the switch module. No documentation on Cisco says this. Anyone heard of this?

Thanks for the information. So this means the switch module can only communicate with the router using a layer3 interface? Where is this documented, if it is?

Never found any documentation, it was in a reply to a post here.

OK, all switch module boot issues sorted. 3750 flash directory structure is different!
global config commands
boot system flash:c3750-ipbase-mz.122-25.EZ/c3750-ipbase-mz.122-25.EZ and
no boot manual
got everything working!
Gota love Cisco!
